I play only 2 crashes for most gigs, both 17". Now and then I'll bring out a splash or a pang cymbal.
How many crashes do you like to use? For a long time I used two, but some songs I play need three, so that is what I now use. How about you? Peace and goodwill

I use a 17 inch AAX Studio Crash, an 18 inch AAX Studio Crash, and an SR2 18 inch Thin. The two 18 inch crashes are very different in pitch.

I like 2 crashes and use the ride as a crash also. In this case, both are Sabian AA Rock crashes. A 17” & 20”. Ride’s a 22” Avedis Zildjian. Hats are 14” Avedis Zildjian.

I went back to using two crashes because using three caused me to play too much.

I run 2 crashes on my kit for Almondy Brown (original hard rock w/ funk influence). 19" and 20". Although I also crash on my 22" ride, on that kit sometimes as well. It wasn't intended to be a crash/ride, but if you open it up the right way it sounds amazing.
On my church kit I run a 16" crash and a 20" sizzle crash/ride.
For other gigs, it just depends. I've done country gigs with 2 crashes and a ride, others with 1 crash and a ride, and others with a single crash used as a crash/ride.
