Totti, I have the P122 single pedal, and it's a good, well-made pedal. I have heard the same thing about the P122 double pedal. I know the Iron Cobra is supposed to be super smooth, but I think for the difference in cost, the P122 will be just fine.

Welcome to Drum Chat, and as a "newbie" I might suggest a trip to the "Newbie Initiation" thread: http://www.drumchat.com/showthread.p...tion-1699.html It's a fun thing to do, and we'll all get a good laugh.

Good to have you here Totti!

The pedal is worth it, like all Pearl pedals it's extremely well made and will take you to professional limits unless you really think a better pedal would improve your speed or the feel is just to bad for you if you have the money.

I've owned the double version of this pedal for about a year now. It's a great pedal when you are new to double. It has a nice feel to it. Mine has been reliable, but with that thin single chain, and the type of music I play (metal), I fear it might break mid-gig. I always keep a backup handy. Eventually I will invest in a more sturdy double, but for now, this one keeps ticking.

Anyone have any advice for lining up the cams and how tight the springs should be?

I used to have double pedal version. It's a solid pedal, I never had any issues with it. The Iron Cobra is naturally a better piece of equipment, but the Pearl is a good beginner-intermediate pedal at an affordable price.

i used to own the double, it needed some tweeks but its a good pedal for the amount paid. ive got 2 year old p122 singles that perform rather well as long as i grease em every once in awhile. congratulations on the purchase, welcome to the double bass universe yeah?

I have the double peddle for about 6 months now and I have no complaints. It's built well, feels good...what more could you ask.

I have this pedal as well. It's a great pedal, I think, though I haven't played many others to compare it to. Nevertheless, it feels comfortable and is a good pedal in my opinion.
