Great review, I been on the fence whether to get one of these or just use a pillow. I realy like that you can mount this pad. Thanks

No Prob.. My favorite pad if you REALLY want to feel the burn. If i use this thing for a while I end up hitting like a monster after. gives you the ability to do doubles on anything too.

Pillows, Pillows, Pillows. If you want speed and stamina pillows is the only way to go.

The video is just doubles which any drummer should be able to play on a chair with 2 spoons.

No matter how you cut it, you are still just hitting things with sticks, you can't get any more basic than that.

    Don't overthink it.

Thanks for the review Scotty. I've tried it and frankly, I got the same affect from just throwing a towel over my existing Real Feel pad (similar to playing on pillows). And since my Real Feel also has a threaded female on the bottom, it's like having two pads in one.

I don't want to be too cynical but I think drum practice pads are one of the most hyped pieces of drum gear in the industry. If you want a hard feel, play on pretty much any hard or semi-hard surface. If you want a softer feel, play on any softer surface like pillows, the side arm of a couch or the top of your drum stool.

Tom, I have never seen a threaded female. I have seen short 1's, tall 1's, wide 1's, and thin 1's, never have I seen a threaded1.

Must be something I have missed over the years.

Mi pillows are too loud, this has the same absolute zero rebound and is small, portable, and quiet. I don't think this is over hyped at all. Not many pads do what this one does.

I was just in DCP friday and they literally have 15 - 20 different types of practice pads on display that you can play when you walk in the store and I can tell you the only one out of all of them that was quiet and absolute zero rebound was the moongel. Thats why I am buying it, not because of what someone told me or reading an advertisement. To each his own but you should try it before dismissing it is all I am saying. Not everyone wants zero rebound and I get it, I have another pad I use as well that has good rebound but I been wanting zero rebound that is quiet to offset my other pad.

Really, you fail to understand how a bucket of sand relates to a mountable, 7" practice pad? Well if I drop my pad I don't have to sweep my floor for one... bwahahahah

Right from the most overrated drummer in history : )

    By BUDDY RICH
    In Conjunction with Henry Adler

“Many young drummer wonder why their technique fails to improve in proportion to the amount of time they spend on a practice pad.

The answer to this problem lies in knowing the proper method of practicing, with special emphasis on developing a technique.

Technique. to begin with. is the exclusive property of a drummer with Strong wrists. You therefore should practice in such a manner so as to compel your wrists to do most of the work in the execution of your studies.

The first step is to eliminate completeIy the arm motion commonly used in drumming. In order to do this properly it is best to keep an eye on your arms while playing to check up on any uncalled for movement from them. If you only took the trouble to look at your arms, you would be amazed at the amount of sledge-hammer arm motion you unknowingly use while practicing.

The next step is to eliminate completely the bounce. I would suggest practicing on a pillow as the best, yet simplest, object to answer the need of a bounce less pad. I would also suggest using your own pillow, so as not to antagonise any members of your family against your playing drums.

I might add at this point that it would be a very good idea for you to maintain a firm grip on your sticks with your fingers. In this position. you will find it more natural to play on the pillow with your wrists.

Now that you are armed with your bounce-proof pillow and your determination to eliminate all arm motion. try practicing one of your rudiments. Play the rudiment very slowly at first, and Watch Your Arms. If you become a little tired, stop and rest for a few seconds. Never over-strain yourself. Keep practicing slowly until your’re able to pIay in that particular tempo with ease, entirely without any strain. Not until then should you attempt to increese the speed of the rudiment. Thus, very gradually are you to increase the rate of speed in your practicing.

This method of practicing is one which requires plenty of patience and consistent effort on your part.

If you do practice patiently and faithfully every day, you will be more than amply rewarded for the extra time you have spent in studying. Your wrists will gradually begin to develop to such an extent that you no longer will have to use your arms unnaturally in order to play. What‘s more, the newly acquired power in your wrists will enable you to execute your musical problems in a manner so relaxed as to make practicing, as well as playing, a new and satisfying pleasure.”

Buddy had nothing to do with anything Adler published outside of letting him use his name. Buddy never practiced on a drum pad or pillows, I know because I asked him almost 50 years ago.

Overrated!!! I have no idea where you got that from. If anybody was overrated it's Ringo.

If Adler sold his "book" without Buddy's name on it, it might have sold 3 copies.

Man, I never even thought about that. I've seen lots of soft plastic things disintegrate over the years. I would be afraid to leave it in a hot car in the summer.
