DIY 7-gallon bucket canister throne
Hi, kids. I just found my password for DrumChat. I don't think I've logged in since 2014!
I'm old and I'm cheap so I do a lot of hacks to reduce weight, save money, or both.
Here's something I made last year: a 7-gallon bucket canister throne. I wanted to split my hardware into two cases from one.

Components:
- 7-gallon bucket
- Screw-Top Lid
- 30-year-old throne top
- Plastic automotive grab handle
- "Bucket Grip" rubber base (extra stability and floor protection)
- Screws and washers to attach throne top and handle
Total cost about $80.
My inspiration was the ugly DW canister throne which sells for about a grand.
A 7-gallon bucket with the throne top is the perfect height for me, 22.5."
It fits a collapsible pedal (Yamaha 7000 series or DW 6000 series), a small stick bag, a Crosstown snare stand, and a few small miscellaneous items. The screw-top seat works great! I screwed the old throne top (with the metal base plate/ring removed) to the screw top. The blue rubber ring on the bottom is a "Bucket Grip" Which gives extra stability and protects floors!
