I agree with you. Drum Chat is a constant source of great information.
I’m happy for the fact that Drum Chat is still around and that all the content from the beginning is still available. A lot of online message boards have closed down completely or automatically purge their boards.
I’m sure there’s a lot of stuff here from way before I came aboard. Lots of good advice and information over the years![]()

It's nice of you to say that. Since the domination of Facebook groups, regular forums are noticeably less active. But private forums have many advantages. We appreciate those of you that continue to post and contribute. Indeed, Drum Chat is rich with information and resources.
I totally agree with the title of this thread. I joined in 2009 (16 years ago), while browsing around different drum forums and the search algorithms pointed me here. I met DamageDrummer on this forum which led to a true friendship when we finally met in person. I became the drum tech/road manager for his band Damage Over Time and learned so much about the business of "Pay to Play" while touring with them in Northern California, and Northern Nevada from 2009-2012. Those memories will live with me forever.
What truly makes this place special is the respect and diplomacy among forum members which starts with Tom, our moderator and a dedicated posters from the past who briefly became co-moderators like Pastor Bob and Bish, who apparently is still around.
Members like rickthedrummer, slinky, Olimpass, Wonder1, Texdrummer, Ricardo and many more names, some that I have forgotten, all contributed to make this place special and a great resource for information and comradery.
The owners of Drum Bum have persevered through the business challenges of Covid and I'm certain that DrumChat kept all of us connected while we faced the uncertainty of a lockdown and the loss of revenue from cancelled gigs and the demise of bands that struggled to stay intact.
I can't thank the owners of DrumChat enough for what this forum has done for my growth and appreciation for a unique group of musicians called "drummers" who serve as the backbone of any band, hands down.

I was looking for a bar 1 night and stumbled on Drum Chat. Next month will be 14 years. I'm a little surprised that I've lasted that long being as I only lasted on Drumeo for 20 minutes.

You've been on here 4 months longer than me. I looked at Drumeo once and said nah.

This site was an immense amount of help when I started my journey on drums. Tons of great information and experience here.
I appreciate Drum Chat for it's longevity, complete history and for the fact that I have not been banned from the forum.
