Maintenance on my drums is something that I could do better at. I’ve never was one to spend a lot of time polishing things. When I do try doing it I notice all the wear and tear and think what’s the use, as long as they’re tuned up good.

I only use cases for my snares. Everything else goes without except bags for stands and cymbals. I do wipe down stands occasionally and every once in a while polish the cymbals.

I’m working on my Pearl free floater snare right now. I cannot tell you the last time I changed the snare side head. It is getting one now top and bottom heads plus new tension rod washers. I found some good nylon ones to replace the old ones.

You're inspiring me to do the same. When I was younger, I babied my drums. Cleaned them all the time, new heads frequently, etc. Nowadays, I rarely do anything. I think I'm going to shoot for upping my drum maintenance routine this year.

that sounds good Tom. I'm going to go through all the heads on the other drums and bass drum and retune them. I've been tightening lugs here and there for so long they're probably all out of balance

I really try to take care of all of my stuff, especially the drums and cymbals. Peace and goodwill.
