Nineteen inch crashes are awesome. I got an AAX 19" Thin Crash recently, and I really like it. I have had two other 19" crashes before, and they were good too. Peace and goodwill.

If I remember right, 602's were the cymbals he used in Take 5 and Far More Drums.

Joe Morelo might have played Zildjians on Take Five but in the mid 60's Paiste had a 602 Joe Morelo signature series.

I don't know why but I've never been that fond of Paiste cymbals. They always sounded a bit 'tinty' to me. Not sure how to describe it. Of course, we all have different tastes.

When someone describes a cymbal as sounding "tinty," they’re typically referring to a tone that is thin, high-pitched, and lacking in warmth or body. It often has a sharp, metallic, or even brittle quality, more like the sound of tin than the rich, full resonance associated with higher-end cymbals. A "tinty" cymbal may come across as overly bright, harsh, or cheap-sounding, with less sustain or musical complexity. The term is often used to critique entry-level or poorly made cymbals that don’t blend well in a mix or fail to deliver the depth and character drummers usually seek. But with an established brand like Paiste and their pro line of cymbals, it's simply a preference. Some drummers like more of that high end sound. Personally, I like more full bodied and a tone that's in the middle of the sound spectrum rather than the very top end.
I think the 602's are kind of mellow, maybe a little dark.

Isn't that what it always comes down to?????
As of this past April, I have been on Drum Chat for 14 years. In that time I've heard cymbals being called "washy", "trashy", "dry", slightly dry, slightly trashy, somewhat close to slightly washy but not quite there yet.
I do wonder what is coming next.

Rick, how does 1 know if a given cymbal is mellow, maybe a little dark OR maybe not so mellow and possibly a little lighter? Is there some device that can measure this type of thing or does 1 still have to go with the "I like it, or I don't like it" method?

Trial and error.I go with the "I like it" method. I suppose you could make a digital profile of one you like and use that as a reference.
