How about these quick release cymbal clips instead of or vs. the spinning of the wing nut?
I really like these quick release ones. They just are nice for quick set up and breakdown.
These are not the ones I have but basically the same.

That looks like the Tama Quick Set Cymbal Mate. Unless it's a knock off. I swear by any quick release topper like this. Mine is an older style as well. Can't remember the brand but the release mechanism is on top rather than the sides. They save so much time on set up and tear down.

These are the ones I have. They have regular size and these pictured are smaller to fit 8mm size.

These work great for me but my friend who plays like an animal, knocked off 2 of the clips while he was playing and he didn’t even notice.

Found some cymbal clips that fit 6mm. They just screw on over existing 6mm cymbal rod.
I’ve found that if I used thick felts, they push up against the pinch point for quick release with a washer on top I bought that’s like 1.25” with a half inch hole in center. It’s better to have some space between the washer and pinch point because it almost wants to pop off of the pinch point when it’s tight against it. I’ll just cut down the felts or maybe just cut one in half and with the washer on top of the felt with plenty of play between washer and pinch point.
