Inspired by the Off Topic thread about the number of drumkits we DrumChatters have (thanks Andy_TAMA!), you know what I'm asking:
How many hand drums do you own? For our purposes, we'll count congas, bongos (one pair of bongos counts as one drum), doumbeks, djembes, bodhrans, cajons, ashikos, etc. If I've left out any other hand drums, please feel free to let me know. (Maracas, claves, guiros, cowbells, etc. aren't counted.) Add your count to the total below, as per my example...
Okay...two sets of bongos, five congas, a djembe, a doumbek... total: 9
(9 drums so far)
Okay, hand-slammers...you're on!

I'll tell you what, though. 2 things I want to own and learn to play before I die - the Bodhran and the hammered dulcimer. Someday...
I play Sonor Signature Series drums, Zildijian & Sabian cymbals.
Put me down for 1 set of congas . (Actually they belong to my 8 yr. old daughter ) .
Hey, gonefishin', your daughter's the conga player in your family?
Cool!
29 and counting...
Wait'll you see this 5-year-old conga player!

Lets see, I have 1 conga, 1 tumba, a set of bongos, a djembe, a bougarbou. Non-drum percussion includes all manner of shakres, rattles, and my favorite a jam block mounted on a bracket and played with a foot pedal.
Hey, midgard, no problem at all, man...except one question?
What's a bougarbou? (and I thought I knew all the hand drums out there!)
Welcome, brother hand-slammer! Latest count, BTW: 49!

The bougarbou is kind of an african conga. It has a cow skin head and a ashiko/djembe style body. Here is a links: http://www.rhythmweb.com/bougarabou/
and a picture
OK, I can finally add to this thread. 1 conga, 1 quinto, and a set of bongos. I believe that's 4. Then if you count the fact that the tamborine on the kick can also be played by hand (one of the girls in the youth group did that 2 weeks ago, with great rhythm), that's actually 5, although I don't think of it as a hand drum without a head on it - your call.
Quoting gonefishin: Just have some bacon with ya when you go pick her up..........youre an instant chick magnet.
