Ray, that is a Ludwig Octa plus set that I suspect would bring some good money on e-bay with the collectors. They are somewhat rare. I had a kit just like it in the late 70s early 80s only black. It is cool to see a kit like that again.
I play Ludwigs and have several photos of my kit and will try to post some here. What I have is what the new Ludwig Legacy collection is based on. I bought my kit in 1964. Ludwig Classics, 3 play (Maple,Poplar, Maple) with maple reinforced rings. Finish is Red Sparkle. sizes are 9x13 small tom, 16x16 floor tom, 16x20 bass drum and 5 1/2x14 Supraphonic 400 snare. Years later, I added a 16x18 floor tom. I admit that the sizes are somewhat unorthodox but it's what I have and continue to play. I have some of the original hardware too...cymbals stands and Speed King pedal. Currently, at age 61, I play with a 17 pc. big band and can tell you that these drums sound amazing! I use Remo coated pinstripes on the toms and a remo coated Emperer on the snare. I also have an early 1960's all maple shell slingerland snare that I use with my kit. The batter head on that is an Aquarian Vintage.
For the bass drum, I use an Aquarian Force 1 batter. I still have the original Ludwig script resonant head but, use a Remo 2-ply Ebony head for that purpose. I get a much better attack, response and reduced resonance. In 1965, I bought my avedjis Zildjian ride and crash (20" med and 18" full crash). I still use the crash but now play Istanbul AGOP Mel Lewis signature 21" big band ride and 14" hats. My other cymbals include a KConstantinople 20" light ride, 16" K Dark crash, 21" A Ping ride and a 10" Wuhan splash. I made reference to the Legacy collection. This new outfuit is made of the same shell construction as the 3-ply classics I described. However, the Legacy is very expensive today and gives me a greater appreciation for what I have and play.

I'm a proud owner of a vintage Ludwig kit.
It's a classic.
• How many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Five: One to screw the bulb in, and four to talk about how much better
Neil Peart could have done it.
