dampening

Coated heads will give you a more dampened sound. Moon gels are little pieces of .......ummmmm.......well.....sticky gel that you put on the edge of your drumheads to help control the overtones. You know, they are made out of that stuff they make the little sticky hands out of that you buy in the quarter vending machines that are in probably every store everywhere.

or maybe they're made out of recycled gummy worms......

I think it might be the same stuff that was inside the Stretch Armstrong I gutted when I was a kid.......

could be a mixture of snot and super glue......

Coated heads are actually better for Dampending,But I use the Remo Weatherking Pinstripe (Clear)...Moon gels are just that.Little gel pads that are made to dampen drums...

well ya those as well as the Remo Powerstoke 3 heads are designed specifically so that the owner doesnt have to use dampenings on the drums. However i find that even after that I still have to because it just doesnt dampen it very well.

LOL maybe im just bad at tuning
