My oldie Tama Imperial Star has a unusual snare attachment. The snare wires are held on via a circular piece so the snare wires have a chrome end piece with a matching O stamped in it. I have not been able to find a site or place that would carry this type of snare wire replacement. I can see Tama must of changed their design a few years after they started. Any hints besides solder?

Well then that poses a problem if you can't find it there. Tama drums don't seem to be overly collectible like the older American drums are so I don't know of a lot of people stock piling parts for them. At least I am not aware of any sources. Have you considered e-mailing them directly. Or perhaps finding a dealer and ask them for their marketing reps name and e-mail and contact him for help? maybe worth a try.

Are you set on Keeping it all stock? Or just want a functional snare drum? I am just dying to see pictures of this thing. You have my curiosity up.

sorry guys I'm often lazy about pics... I've been polishing, waxing and removing rust. I get a pic of the snare tomorrow online. It's funky. I troll ebay for sets and some guy has one exactly like mine "Get this great collectible set" uh sure... starting bid is $150 no bids so far. I'd have to drive 6 hrs to get it though.

Puresoundpercussion dot com sells a snare for the drum. It should be the same as the Kingbeat Imperialstar snare drum wires. Look under Vintage/Tama.
