Default Which DW Bass Drum Pedal?

    Hi,

Due to joint ache I need to buy a new bass drum pedal that is easy on my ankle.

After getting some good advice from this forum, I've now decided to go with the DW range. Bearing in mind that my main requirement is that the pedal be smooth and light, is there much difference between the DW 5000 and the cheaper DW 7000?

I don't mind paying a higher price, but not for features that I don't need.

    Thanks,

    Paul.

The 5000 has a bearing hinge(7000 doesn't), which will help as far as that light/ smoothness you're looking for.

They now sell the 8000. It has the floating rotor drive like the 9000(....very smoooth).

if you can, get to a drum shop and work out each pedal you are considering. A good shop will set you up in a practice room and let you work a pedal some. I bought an Iron cobra but Coke_ca is right that the 5000 is worth the additional $

A suggestion, between the 5000 and 7000, the 5000's are a winner for sure. However if you want to go higher I wouldn't suggest stopping at 8000 when the 9000 will last much longer and can be configured to be much smoother than the 8000's.

I was wondering what the differance is that makes the 9000 last longer than the 8000, I though the drives were the same?

roger i have to disagree with you on this one
    though not entirely
while the 9000s are known to be smooth
they also have a few more moving parts
the 8000s rely on a similar bearing setup
but have a few less parts to wear out
to be honest i think that the 9000 is more of a jazz pedal and the 8000 is the more rock tailored version of the same idea
