I have the 18 inch crash ride, and banged around on some thin crashes at the drum shop. I love Rudes and if I had it my way my whole kit would be outfitted with Rudes. I wonder how the Rude wild crashes sound.

What am I missing on these Rudes I have always found them to be harsh cymbals? Obviously I havn't hit enough of them to form a proper opinion. There seems to be a number of fans for them here, I will pay more attention next time I am at the music shop to see what all the fuss is about.

well I guess its up to opinion. I like the harshness. I dont know how to describe it, but they dont have that shimmery quality that most cymbals do, and that I like.

i know what you mean about the harshness
my new 18 inch sabian aax stage crash has the same harsness
    but i love it
to appreciate a cymbal you have to play it on a kit
the shimmer makes it cut through the mix like one bad mofo

Wow - funny that others mentioned the word 'shimmery' in thier description of this sound. I really struggle to describe cymbal sounds but I was thinking of that exact word when I read Back to Drums ' What am I missing' question.

To me it is LOUD with a fast initial attack and a NICE decay that shimmers, also better than I thought for those 'building edge rolls'

    We are still in love

Got some nice little effects cymbals on the way too ( Sabian 10' Ozone and a Paiste 12' Signature Splash ) - currently making a custom holder for these and my other splash. Will post kit pic updates when I get this all made in a month or so.

not to be RUDE. but 10' and 12' cymbals seem a little, how you say......HUGE

i know you meant 10" and 12" however a 10 foot ozone crash might be interesting. for that matter i didnt know they made 10" ozone. are the holes the same size as the other ozones?
