    Default Update On The Refrence

I've received news that my Reference drum kit will arrive as a 4pc (20x18, 10x8, 12x9, 14x14) without my second floor tom (16x16) and the delay could be up to two months for the floor tom so I decided that I would order a 13x10 instead because I believe I'd have more option with a 3up 1 down setup. It was either that or an 8x7, and I can't say I'm a big fan of the sound 8" toms make for what I have to play.

Arctic white with black hardware. Better looking than a penguin. Also might grab the 16x16, but not with the money I have currently have, somewhat reserved for other things.

Australia is where I plan to live out my days. Arctic white with black hardware, not the special editions which are only available in the US. Arctic white is special order which is why it's taken so long so far.

ah,i see. i think we had this talk once. lol.

i didnt know they did spesial orders like that on refs. i thought if you wanted a different laquor/hardware combo that you had to go masterworks.either way, cant wait to see.

wonderful sounding kit Roger...I've been interested in the Reference line for some time now. Mainly because it offers the "multiple wood approach" of the masterworks series and a fraction of the cost for people who don't need ridiculously lavish finishes.

funky: can you explain any sound difference btw the 8x7 and an 8x8 that makes you prefer the 8x7? I've never owned an 8 inch tom and have always wanted one.

i havnt played an 8x8 since the 80s but i love the sound of small toms (8" & 10") tuned low.

8x8's in my experience are just a little deeper sounding, it's the exact same with 10x9, 12x10, 13x11 etc. They all sound a little muddy compared to the 8x7-13x10 toms which produce clean notes when tuned the same.
