Wild guess, I have one and it is medium towards a thin if that makes sense, not for a thrasher.

I have a 16" K Dark medium crash. Great sound and no question about its durability.

If durability is a question, ....... why?

And if you are worried about making a K Custom last..... you might want to consider something heavier. I had some, mine were thin. And bright for KCs. Miss those a lot.

I have grown quite fond of the K Custom Series, but have noticed that they appear to be more thin in comparison with other lines. I just wanted to hear opinions since they are pretty expensive, especially in Costa Rica. I do not want invest in something that might not be the best for me. I have read a lot in the forum about playing technique and the effect on durability of cymbals. I like to play various types of music, but would not consider myself a thrasher....and i do love the sound of these cymbals. Also i have heard about the A customs cracking, which i understand are more for rock applications than the K´s...do you think is because of bad technique? or something else? Thanks a million Ploughman!!!

They are excellent cymbals. I had a very nice set, that I wish I still owned. I did not sell them because I didnt like them. Ive never broken one. Or any for that matter.

They are thinner cymbals, ideally that is why they are suited for jazz.

From what I am told zildjians are more known for there quality in sound not as much in durability. Then again if you hit anything hard enough something will give.

well there are mediums and thins on them they all sound great and because there a lighter cymbal there not as brittle as the heavyer cymbals like for example the z costom line there allready stressing the cymbal just to hang in the air and then you add the stress of the strike (often heavy strikes) and they crack quick, these have so much less stress on them that they can take a good long beating and still be fine. but i wouldnt sugest poor techniqe or bashing anyway
play till the day i die. it makes more sense that way.

i own 14", 16", and 17" k custom dark crashes and they are pretty thin. they are surprisingly bright and explosive considering the name. i use them in my blues band, wich also does some fairly loud electic hendrix and stuff, aswell as when i get the chance to play jazz. they sound nice and cut thru the mix well enuff. it is true that most cymbal break due to bad technique, but i wouldnt take the risk of hammering on the K custom darks too hard. i use Avedis med thins for most classic rock type things and A customs for anything more modern and aggressive.

I own a 17" K dark, a 18" K custom sessions ride, a K 10" splash and a set of 13.25" K custom hybrid hats. I play a dynamic style and find the K custom series to be very durable..and the best sounding cymbals I have ever heard!
I think that the K customs fit well into rock music as well! Alot of people pigeonhole this series as a strictly jazz only cymbal...untrue. However I wouldnt be using these for metal music! Ks are the best! IMO

I too think that the K custom dark crashes are nice cymbals. I will say however that I have found them to be not as loud as the A customs I own. I like them for lower volume situations though more so than the A custom's because I think they get out of the way quicker and are not as overpowering in quieter situations.

thin cymbals are actually more durable than thick cymbals they are also better for your wrist. ppl. say paiste rudes and Z customs are best for metal, but actually thinner cymbals like K customs are better for metal.

I have a 16" Dark K medium Thin crash. To me, it looks thicker than my 18" Avedjis Zildjian full crash. I have no concerns at all about its durability. I can smack it fairly hard and I like it's quick decay.
