I played the hart kit for a few days got it kinda dialed in and adjusted to my liking. It is a very sweet kit plays more like an acoustic kit than any of the roland kits i've had. The drums are heavier "weight" the snare drum is a 13" vs a 12" on the TD 10 and 20 kits. The rack is made of steel and all the mounts are made of steel...the roland rack is aluminum and the mounts are plastic
The hart crash cymbals are some kinda plastic and the HH and ride are some kinda metal. The rolands are rubber or plastic. I like the metal ride better but all the harts do make a thud when struck. I like the roland CY 14 and CY 15 cymbals also the rubber is the quietest.

There are several types of electric cymbals out now from the plastic and rubber to the metal ones like smartrigger or hart ecymbal and you can trigger real cymbals also......

I own a new set of Yamaha DTX IV drums,, love playing them,, obvious trade off is the rubber pads, as opposed to the Roland Mesh Heads, but needless to say, big difference in price! Othewise when played, the sound this great only difference again is the "action", which I did happen to run in to this week when I jammed, using someone else's Acoustic set, tuned very loosley, wow, talking about going from one extreme to the other!

I do have a question though,, looking for small amp for this kit,, I'm an older guy with back issues, so I'm not looking for anything big to say the least to drag around, anyone use the Roland PM 10 ? Or purhaps have any other suggestons, they would be appreciated.

hey Gelman, I also recently purchaed the dtx 1v special and I love it for practise and live gigs, I bought a peavey kb4 keyboard amp its 75 watts , 15 in and a horn, its ok for pratcise but not enough power for gigs really [ I blew the horn already!!, it does have wheels and nice handles to move around though. I was not happy with the KB4 for live gigs so I did quite a bit of research. I purchased a self powered yorkville nx550p 12inch and horn [nice weight], and an elite sp200 sub for the lows [a bit heavier but still acceptable]. they are both self powered and have a great sound. Do you need the amp for live gigs?

for something yourself you should get a roland cube keyboard amp..... whatever amperage goes with the 8" speaker. It will be super small and have a pretty good sound for the size and just something simple to hear yourself with thats not headphones.

what was wrong with it slow? I thought you liked the feel of the pads? Or was it a cymbal problem? The brain must have been ok coz it was a roland? So what was the deal?

Not a thing wrong with it Stevo. It's just after playing on it I realised that I really like my DIY kit better! The DIY kit is a "real" kit and I practice on it and have it setup just like my acoustics that i play out so i "move to the same drums" so to speak.
