So says Pearl Drum Co., too, but I don't think all mfgs. are following suit. I tried to buy drum cases and it was the most confusing situation I ran into.

Definitely a very cool looking kit! I've always like the look of acrylic kits, going back to the Luddy Vistalite days.

    i really like that color
and i love the stage presence of acrylic kits
    especially with inventive lighting
one of my favorite bands (the sleeping)
their drummer joe zizzo plays a kit
    and it sounds great =]
granted its made by truth custom
and i cant really use that to judge the ddrum kit but as far as acrylic to wood
there isnt a huge change in sound
and i dont find it to be a negative change so there you have it

Check out the look of this kit! Opaque coke bottle acrylic with internal lights. This is Gil Sharone with Dillinger Escape Plan.

BTW I saw them live last week and this guy is unbelievably good. That kit is REALLY STRONG, too. The guitarist kept jumping on & off of that bass drum and it didn't flex at all!!!

Don't get me wrong, that set looks awesome and it most likely sounds incredible, but there has been some major contraversy on this forum as well as in general over DDrum's service. Multiple people have complained about ordering a set and having a piece missing, wrong size, dented hardware, etc. Appearently they're always right on it to give you back the service you need, but still if you think about it, would you want that hastle?

That system has never made sense to me. It's backwards.

I haven't personally had any experience with DDrums, but if that's the case, it might be wise if someone wanted one to buy it at their local drum store. If it's in stock, you win (stop that jimbolimbo LOL), and if you have to order it at least you would have the drum shop as an intermediary.

I think the "ideal" situation to getting any kit is if it's in stock locally so you can see, touch, and play it, but that can be hard since most stores can't stock enough kits to please everyone.

Agreed, that's why I don't buy products online... Unless it's a Paiste sig and I know it's all good, then it's a deal

Lol, well that's just bizarre I've never had any experience of it being depth x diameter until I came on these forums :-P. Apologies, off topic.

Yeah, I do buy a lot of gear online but I'm usually 100% sure its going to be quality (a bought a few of my A Customs online, hehe). If its a big expensive purchase then its very wise to 'try before you buy' so to speak.

I bought my RCI Acrylic set online. No problems at all, took only a month from order to delivery. I have the John Bonham setup but I substituted a 20X24 kick drum for the 26 inch. Love the sound-I like wood too, but prefer the visual effect of acrylic. You can check out a guy playing RCI shells (DW uses RCI at least last I checked) if you go to "youtube" and search for DW acrylic. I think this is the link:
