From your name i would probably say the 9.5 lol. I dont really know anything about those cymbals though, i dont think there is a "better" one. Probably the best way of deciding is simply trying both at a local music shop, comparing the sound and making a judgement based on your preference.

I'd like too try both, but the guitar center near me deftintly won't have both, it might not even have one. My local guitarcenter doesn't sell that many cymbals :(

I don't think it matters with Zil bells. They're pretty thick anyway. It's more in the pitch or tone you want. Always best to try them out if you can.

I have a 9.5 Zilbell and I love it. I've not tried the smaller one so can't compare.

The 9.5 definately has a big sound - like a fire alarm bell.

I have looked at those a number of times and played around with them, for me I can't think of anything that I play where I would have a use for one...but that is just me. What do you plan to use it for? I am just curious that maybe I am missing something!

Before you buy the Zil Bell, check out LP's bells. I was looking at a 6" Zil Bell and found a 6' LP that sounded just as good and only it only cost half as much as the Zil. Needless to say, I bought it and I'm lovin' it!

I bought mine because it was shiny and it sounded nice and I thought it was different and it would add just another sound to my kit - which it did. It has a lot of sustain and very high pitched. It's just plain fun to play in certain applications. AND - the best reason of all I guess, is; you can't have too many cymbals!

Zildjians web site has sound samples of both(as with all their cymbals). I'm considering one too.

I've had a 6" LP Ice Bell for almost 18 years now, and still love it. It's great when you want a bell sound like the bell on your ride, but with a cleaner, sharper, louder cut. Love it!

    I just picked up a 6" Zil-bel from GC Monday for 20% off which = $70.

I mounted it upside down (or open end up) on top of one of my lesser used crashes.

I simply love the "ding" it makes and the sustain is just perfect. I love this little bell.

I would definitely recommend the 9.5" for a metalhead, it is very bell-like. It has a much lower note than the 6", which is more like a ping or ride-cymbal bell sound. Both sizes really cut through loud guitars.
Last year for a couple Halloween shows our band (normally all-originals with female vocalists) played a cover of Iron Maiden's 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' and the 9.5" Zil-Bel was SO PERFECT for the bell sound in the intro!
I have had one for 10yrs or so and it is killer.

I think i've played an 8" before, it was really a cool thing. It would add a lot to a set. I would also suggest the 9.5", have fun man.
