What kind of sound are you looking for?
For a classic sound, go with AA, for a loud raw sound, try out the new APX, if you want more of a new technology sound, try out AAX, and if you want just a clean jazzy sound, go for the HHX
=D
So im really considering buying a splash. im going to stick with sabian, most likely an aax or hhx. but anyways, what do you guys recommend?

Hey Coke Can man
I have a 10" Sabian Hand Hammered (HH Duo) that sounds great!
Go to your local music store, set up 4 or 5 splashes in a line, get the drum tech guy to hit them (with your back turned from them) and go with the one you think sounds best!
i have and love the hhx evo splashes in 10" & 12" they are smooth and glassy sounding.
i also have 6" and 10" paragons that i are okay but harsher and bolder sounding.
maple goodness......

I like the AA, AAX, and Paragon. OK I have them, too so I get to hear them any time I want.

Thank God for Guitar Center, because you can try them all out side-by-side. I had all my splashes stolen, but rather than it being a tragedy, it was an opportunity to hear and get some much better ones. Here were my choices:
The Zildjian A 6" Splash - Very unique and deceptively LOUD. Very few cymbals are so identifiable on a recording. This little cymbal is used by the drummers for Carbon Leaf and Tribeca, and you know it when you hear it!
The Sabian 8' Paragon - very glassy and full at the same time. If I bought just one splash, this is the one I would choose for all round versatility. (Didn't like the Paragon 10", though)
The Sabian 10" HHX with the unfinished bell- Lots of high end and warmer tones as well.

I've had my 8" AAX for about ten years now. I've fooled around with a 10" China splash, a 10" AAX splash which I warped (cause= being a card-carrying angry youth of America), and a 6" AA (which gave a great contrast). I've found the Sabian splashes tend to have a lower profile than the Zildjians, which was a plus for me. The 8" AAX has great dynamic range, quick decay, and seems to be the most structurally sound- the 6" can be too brittle, and the 10" too thin.
A note of warning: The smaller, thinner splashes will crack on you in a minute if you're not careful. You can't lay into them like you do the crashes. I've been through quite a few of them.
I use a Wuhan 10" splash. It is really one of the neatest little cymbals I've ever used. Nice, fast splash and decay and quite inexpensive too. It is thin so I don't beat the he-- out of it when I play...just enough to give the effect that I want.
I just bought WUHAN as well...
Mine is 8" S series....
I would say it's okay....
Trashy and the china sound very neatly....

10" Sabian AA's, AAX's, and on the low end a good B8pro

Ufip Class up to 10" - any larger and they tend to get a bit too clangy. Otherwise Ufip Natural in any size.
id reccomend a zildjian A custom or sabian paragon splash
