    Default Agazarian China Cymbal

Well, I went to GC today to take advantage of their Memorial Day sale (picked up a Simmons e-kit, but that's another thread), and they had a box of 12" Agazarian cymbals. They were selling them for $9.99, so I decided to give one a try. I haven't put it on the kit yet, so I'll let you know how it sounds.

The Agazarian cymbals are replacing the Wuhan cymbals at GC. I googled "Agazarian" and I only get people's opinions on the various forums, but nothing that tells me anything special, other than people are generally impressed.

I have the 12'' on my set and it's what I need to accent certain parts and it does it very well. I also bought the insurance, so if it breaks in the next 24 months I can have it replaced.

Now that's just funny KJ!! That explains a lot, because both the Wuhans and the Agazarian chinas have that knob on them.

Hey Pb, sounds like a great deal on those cymbals. For that price it would not really matter if they turned out to be nothing more than trash can lids. Definately worth the try on that one, mate

I agree LW. I stuck one on my finger, pinged it, and decided to take a chance. I figured the worst that could happen was that I lost $10. I also bought 6 pairs of sticks for $1 a pair. They were Vic Firth 85A's. They were exactly the same size as 5A's , so I thought they were probably mislabeled at the factory, because I've never heard of an 85A. Again, for $1 a pair, I wouldn't have lost much if I ended up throwing them away!

Nice buy PB! So what is the Agazarian, a little china, splash, or what?

Sorry Peach, I sort of left out a little detail there, didn't I! The cymbal I got was a 12" China. I've got an 18" Wuhan China, and it's big enough to be kind of gongy. I thought this Agazarian might be a cool splashy China to go along with the 12" Wuhan Splash that I have.

Well, if the Agazarians are exactly the same as the Wuhans, which seems right, then the splash is a cool blend of sounds. It is the typical splash sound with a slight wash of trashy overtone. I think my Wuhan splash is just about perfect for accent duty.
