    Default What did you learn...

...the first time you had drum lessons?

I was taught that the high hat always hits 4 the snare on 3 and the bass hits on one the first messure and on one and two the second messure...I progressed to doing that for 8 measures and then hiting (you'll have to forgive me I don't have the names of the cymbles down yet)....the left crash on one along with the base and moving to the ...ride? (sorry) on two and using it like the high hat. You do that for 8 measures as well and then hit the right crash along with the base on one and moving to the high hat...and you just do that back and forth...it's fun and kinda hard...but I got it down I think!

I pretty much taught myself to play and played in bands for about 3 years when I finally realized I wanted to take lessons and learn all the things I didn't know. So, the first thing with lesson for me was the rudiments and basic reading.
