Cant go wrong with a coated ambassador can ya? If you need a nice metal ring, just loosen your snares wayy of the reso head, it will give you a nice ringy explosion

I like EVANS....ST Dry or Genera G2.

The Evans coated Power Center head will give the tremendous 'sweet spot' sound for power metal every time you hit the middle.
I would not recommend it for any other style of music, as it gives your snare only two sounds - phat and off-center
And the trees are all kept equal by hatchet, axe, and saw. . .
Remo Emporer X snare heads, should be plenty durable if your a hard hitter.

agreed
I had an Emperor X on my snare, and I found that I like the Coated Ambassador for the warm overtones.
The Emperor X, however, did last over two years of hard hitting.

I always find remo coated heads to lose the coating MUCH quicker than any evans i've used. Personally, I just use a coated G1 on all snares and toms.
