I've always used Remo clear pinstripes on all but my snare. For that I use a Powerstroke 3.

Dark and deep. I've used them in the past. Not much ring to them - kind of flat. there's nothing wrong with that sound, if that's what you're looking for.

i'm in need of getting top and bottom heads for my hole set excluding the snare and kick.
and i was wondering what the difference is between the pinstrip and coated and clear?
and a brand that is great quality but not overly priced. but not cheap that i would have to buy new ones 2 months later. the look isn't much to me. but the sound is all the world to me...okay maybe half the world. so anyways. i got a remo head on my snare. and its coated. and i like it tons. but i don't know if i should do the same brand for my toms as i have for my snare. opinions are welcome.

i am a big fan of single ply coated heads, i used to only use remo ambs. but have switched this last year to evans g1s on my toms. they are warmer sounding and more durable coating than the remos. i still use the emporor x on my snares.
