bro, how do you pronounce djembe?
It is pronounced Jim-bay!
By the way, thank you mods. Bongobro and myself, along with all the other hand drummers on the forum, have been looking forward to this.
So, I think I will start a thread...

I thought maybe it was like gyro. No matter how you pronounce it they alway correct you.
"I'd like a jirow, please"
"It's gheeroh"
"I'd like a gheeroh, please"
"It's ghikdro"
"I'd like a ghikdro, please"
"It's gheeroh"
To further befuddle things, "gyro" is pronounced "YEAR-oh" in St. Louis... and "djembe" comes out as "JEM-bay"... and when referring to those tall drums that are integral parts of Santana, Gloria Estefan (uhh, make that the Miami Sound Machine!) and other Latin groups, they are referred as "quinto" (KEEN-toh), "conga" (KUN-ga), and "tumba" (TOOM-bah)...
BTW, thanks again, drummer--1DrumBum and I are giving you high-fives and loud drumrolls on this one, man!
