Metal in the veins of Strapping Young Lad and Machine Head. It's hard to define, but it's very, very heavy.

the death metal thread got me thinking dang theres a lot of metal out there, so whats your favorite kind of metal, give a band example and a vid link if you can.
personally i dig thrash metal. and a thrash metal band that doesn't get enough credit is overkill.

Today, on Ethel The Frog...
Dio, Maiden, Judas Priest. I prefer vocalists who don't sound like Cookie Monster.

I'm kinda partial to stainless steel, myself.
Signature here
What? stainless steel just sucks; you could be listening to galvanized high carbon steel if you'd spend a little more.
The main difference between hard rock and metal is the scales commonly used and the lyrical themes, it's the difference between Van Halen and Iron Maiden. I don't think Zeppelin can be called metal, a few of their songs maybe, but not the whole band.
Recently I've been listening to a lot of Disciple. They are really good and I like music that has the whole package. Something that's both excellent musically and that's actually saying something with the lyrics.
For me it has to be both, I won't be satisfied with a band only good in one area.
Guess I'm just picky about that! Haha.
In truth, Rock music is the most pure and honest art form ever born.
Realx... I'm a drummer...
Girl Drummers are Amazing!!
Hmm... i like metalcore, viking metal, death metal and thrash... maybe a bit of black metal or grindcore if i'm feeling EXTREEEEEEMMEE
Fav bands: Slayer, Exodus, Lamb of God, Cradle of Filth, Behemoth, Soilwork and Turisas
crazydrummer: Metal sounds like someone is rampaging through a pig pen with a machine gun....
Shazane: They are firing that machine gun at a perfect 380 BPM in 7/8, while the agonized screams of the pigs are flawlessly harmonizing arpeggios at 20 notes per second.
MetalManMonkey:
Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Metallica..... I"m with RD, nothing that sounds like cookie monster, that stuff is a bit much for me....

I dig thrash/speed metal. Can't go wrong with Slayer, Anthrax, SOD and the older Metallica.
I like bits and pieces of death and black metal. Most of it is too monotonous for me. Good, but monotonous.
I really dig more of the grindcore, grindgore, metalcore and similar stuff as they have elements of most forms of metal and change things up quite a bit.
It's nice, but I like aluminum as it's lighter weight and looks good in any finish. Stainless is a bit to much when polished.
This is actually what I thought the thread was about.
So don't listen to the gothic stuff. It's lame anyways.
