writing songs since about 5th grade. So I've written maybe 200 songs. It's really hard being a drummer and a songwriter though. I could post one of my next week since I won't be here.

Oh tell me where your freedom lies
The street are fields that never die.
    Deliver me from reasons why

    Post Song Lyrics

I've toyed with a few song lyrics, but like Mojo, I ramble all over the place--I think there's a fine and fuzzy line between genius and madness, as the cliche goes...here are two refrain lines from two totally different songs!

#1 is what I call "a comical rock-and-roll lament to love"...the first two lines would recall a retro song like "My Boyfriend's Back..."

Gimme a break! You just don't get it!
What will it take for you to let it go,
Let it glide, stop this carousel ride--
This game that you're playing with me?

#2 is inspired by, of all things, the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, and, as I would play it, it would have some serious percussion (no surprise!) and a calypso feel:

    "Love, joy, peace..
    Patience, goodness, kindness...
    Faith-ful-ness, gen-tle-ness, self-con-trol
(the above line would be done in a triplet feel, and depending on the tempo, could even sound like a cha-cha-cha)
These are the gifts of the Spirit
The nine precious gifts of the Holy Spirit--
These are the gifts of the Spirit--
And against them there is no law!"

keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!

    Charlie

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." --Henry David Thoreau, "Walden," 1854

"There's a lot to be said for Time Honored tradition and value." --In memory of Frank "fiacovaz" Iacovazzi

i wrote this in thougts of a song that me and this kid mango (my future band leader) oh yeah i never mentioned that but it doesnt cout we haven`t rehearsed yet but anyway any feedback is cool it`s not really in a standard format but all my friends gave me some positive feedback the oppisite of the bands name negative feedback:
let me take you to the tides
wash you in the gentle pride
    the universe comes and ends
    it is time to pretend
    the transparency of paper seen
    doves crowd the ominous greed
    torment of the reverlie
    tumult of tranquility
    surrender to the waiting sea
    nothing has become of me
    addled by the perjury
    piercing is the machinces soul
    slayed by mediocridy
    confronted by the archfiend
    i am the perennial
    and you are aphonic
Oh tell me where your freedom lies
The street are fields that never die.
    Deliver me from reasons why
    You`d rather cry
    I`d rather fly.

I don't like music for their themes or anything. That's poetry. I listen to music soley for the sound. Whoever likes music because of poetry is gay and should be pwned.

    heres a song i wrote:

    Rain as Grenades (title)

The night is green, the pale clouds form
the infected pillow of the scar retorn
the guns of thunder the pistols of air
scorch the eyes of all who stare

still the sea releases and floods the ground
it stabs like icicles and stings with sound
tears down the gate and dictates souls
the force that stitches cannot hold

it leaves none their city beneath
and turns it eyes for the clash of teeth
as the scavengers pick away the flesh
it hovers behind the burning bush
and as the weak stumble for the remains
it slips below the public's gaze
it breaks with a scarce but deep cut wound
tightly shuts but doesnt lock the tomb

its the story force and sickly lover
and only weakness is if its discovered
and dont fall for its masked trick
so we'll cut it down bit by bit

    but each drip is equipped

    a candlestick without his wick
how can he make his fire
    a captain without his crew
    yet still roped with desire

    sentence broken curtains ripped
    the everlasting solar eclipse
this cement wont hold the bricks together
an encore fall through all this weather
your kind may be cloaked in his splendor
but you and your window will smash together

do you feel that wind on your face
it will destroy your mended embrace
do you hear the defeaning beat
its the pounding of our oncoming feet
do you see the horizon, united in awe
think you're safe behind the wall
do you think we came too late
believe him, we're worth the wait

Its pretty much about chrisitanity in schools lol wouldnt have guessed that would of you?

    There's a site called Songstuff.com .
It's a great site and people will help you get ideas for songs.
Another one i've seen is called SongwriterForums. It's more high-tech than songstuff.
