*Drum lesson and ear protection*

For those of you that take drum lessons do you guys wear ear protection during your drum lessons?

I don't because then we'd have to yell at eachother, but I would if I had custom earplugs(musicians earplugs), were everything would just be quiter, not block out everything.

Yes. I wear them during lessons, and I can hear my instructor just fine.
Don't go deaf.

It's not common for students to wear them in lessons but if it starts to get loud, it's recommended.

My teacher is pretty mellow. His room is nicely sound proofed and he never wails on the kit. Very Mellow

Hi!

My suggestion is that if you start to feel "tired" in the ears
and you hear a "tinitus" tone signal (an unstopped sound) in your ear, then
you really should wear earplugs, otherwise you can get loss of hearning.
Don´t mess with your hearing, they are your best "friends".

Nik, a lot of it would depend on what type of room the lesson is given in. Fastbeat's advice is an excellent rule of thumb.

Yes, during lessons and practice. A good sense of hearing will help me play in the future.

My teacher wears ear plugs while I play! I wear them practicing at home but not during lessons.
