Try playing it with your band. They can sound annoying if you're alone practicing
So i finally got to pick up my Z custom rock crashes today, 16" and 18"
They sounded terrible when i got them home, IMO, they are so thick and the ring just lingers, and lingers, and lingers some more. The 18" is so thick that it doesnt feel good to hit, it does not feel like a crash cymbal. The 16" is so high pitch that my ears hurt, and are still ringing. Both of the bells chime a little to bright IMO.
all of this is just my preference opinion. I reccommend these if you are looking an intense bright cymbal.
Im going back to the store in a little bit to return them and get thinner crashes.

no it wasnt just that, they didnt fit with my kit whatsoever, its like if you went from a bass guitar, to have the bottom four strings of an 6 string guitar.
My kit has hydrualic heads and it was WAYYY to bright for them
so i went to the store right away and switch them out for some beautful xs20's that fit so well because they are darker, and my kit sound almost perfet.

oh I see. At least you're satisfied now

there perfect for a rock/metal iv used them in funk ,experimental bands also
I have the older (early 90's) 17" and 18" medium customs used to have the 16" also ,there the absolute freeking bomb for big venues with big Pa's
.....works sweet in the studio also imo
don't know about you but i like my crashes to ring over a hole bar
Zeta, I'm glad you got the sound you wanted. I have been pretty impressed with the Sabian XS20's myself. If you've got hydraulic heads, I can understand why you would prefer the XS20's.
