Right now my Tama snare is in it's case upstairs in the attic, the attic is not climate controlled. It gets very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. Is this an ok place for my snare to be stored or should I bring it back downstairs?

(note: I didn't put it up there, my husband did when he was cleaning)

well unlike wood shells, i dont believe the steel will warp. However it may get oxidation or pitting on the hoops and lugs. I would bring it downstairs just to be safe.

Though it probably won't hurt it, its better to be safe than sorry. Attics can get extremely hot.

You can always get a stand and keep the snare drum displayed by your e-kit or elsewhere. A friend of mine in Phoenix has a row of snares drums displayed along front of fireplace in his home. He's an avid collector of "Investment"snare drums and has close to 40 some odd drums now. Even has two 7 pc sets of Ayottes.

I am glad, I was cringing at the thought of your drum up in that heat.

The air conditioning in you house does more then lower temp, it also dehumidifies the air. Pitting would be my concern up in the attic or out in a garage.

I store all my drums, wood or steel in the house. the only thing I will keep out in the garage is the stands. And I have to say if I had the room they would be indoors as well.
