Best best would be to get a mixer and plug the DM5 and computer outputs into it, mix accordingly, and then use the mixer's outputs to plug into an amp or receiver.

Hello fellow drummers. I recently bought a Hart Dynamics electronic drum kit with an Alesis Dm5 module. I don't jam a whole lot anymore but I would like to. What I want to be able to do is hook my drums up to a computer and jam along with guitar tracks. I know that some drum modules have onboard sequencers that you can play along with but the Dm5 does not have that feature. I am very new to electronic drumming but I have palyed acoustic drums for some time.
I anyone can help me out in this area it would be greatly apprciated.
Thanks

Your module should have a 1/4" input jack. Just get a cord that has a mini plug on one end and a 1/4" plug on the other, then you can listen to both your computer and your drums through your headphones. I did this with my Roland kit and it works very well. Plus it only cost about $10.
Rock on!
