    Default Tama or Pearl

I'm stuck between 2 drumsets that i like and would like some help.I'm stuck between choosing the Tama superstar custom SL72SB or the Pearl ELX 6 piece.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

HEY!! welcome to the forum...you came to the right place!!
im biased since i prefer pearl over tama...but one of my buds uses a tama superstar as apposed to my pearl kit ( its not ELX tho) i find the tama is a very nice kit for the cash it all come down to shell materials and the sound you want...the the thinner the shell, the more over-tones and the longer the note rings
maple is a very loud wood with all around good highs mids and lows
where as brich is loud and pirceing ive heard it decsribed as bouncy to...
where as mohanany ( which is what i think the superstar is made outof)...is really low end with nice mids and highs

BTW if any of this is wrong feel; free to correct me cause i leared thtis a long time ago and then knda forgot about it

Well i play christian music in a small church,so i don't need the set to be overpowering.I do plan on mic'n the kit.The Tama kit is Birch with Basswood inner ply.The bass drum shell is 7 ply and the toms are 6 ply.The Pearl uses poplar shells

The size of each drum and the type of head will have a lot to do with volume.

personaly i would slide with the pearl... it sounds less likely to blow out the old folks section...my pearl set is birch and its a pain to play in an open room i had to use wads of muffleing to play in a gym....i dunno how the basswood would counter act the birchs pingy-ness...but i dunno what popular does...ive never played a poplar kit before...

Been playing since i was five.I started on one of those el cheapo kits from toys'r'us.My mom figured she needed to get me involved in something so that i wouldn't grow up to be a hoodlum. From there i played all thru grade school and high school. Now i'm in the military and can afford a real nice kit as a present to myself..

maple ish what most drummers use as a rock wood cause its so loud
