I like to keep my knees at a right angle. That's how I determine throne height.
How high is yours??
"Frank the Drummer" has his kit set up in my studio.
His stool is set very high. He says it helps his back.
I've been playing on it for over a year and I really like it.
All of the rest of the drummers I know sit very low.
When I play someone elses kit with a low stool i get uncomfortable after a couple of hours.

Another one here for right angle, maybe a little taller!
it's supposed to be about knee height... from a health point of view. but i do find it's the most comfortable...
keep mine just above right angles which is low cause i'm kinda short and that is why i like the fusion size drums i can keep them kinda flat
I don't know about you guys but that title was a bit scary, at first....
Signature here
I have mine rather high. I play on two other kits at school and church, and both have thrones that are very very low (I am very tall, 6' 2"). It was so uncomfortable for me that I have been sacrificing my bum and playing on a wooden bar stool.
i have mine as high as the normal computer chair will let it go, but i think im going to have to go back to my regular throne, cause i cant get my pedal technique down when im so low.
if women don't find you handsome.
they should atleast find you handy.
Since the obvious toilet jokes have passed,
I sit with my thighs about parallel to the floor. I feel the best calf response there.
If my butt is any higher off the floor, after a few minutes, I tend to get a nerve problem where my leg contacts the throne. If I sit lower it just feels unnatural, like I can't get enough power to those limbs.
YMMV.

No, I still won't play Wipe Out.
The proper term is Throne, so nobody forgets the status of the drummer.
I've actually raised it up quite a bit, I've found it improves double bass playing, allows you to use your ankles more without having to involve your entire leg.
LOL! So it's not just me.
Reminds me of those titles like, "I need some advise right freaking now", and you go in there ready to say something like "you must wait one hour after eating to go swimming" or "never lick a frozen tetherball pole", but they mess it up back asking something about drums, or cymbals, or why we only have one girl on this website. I hate that.

Toilets have been known to be called thrones.
On the throne, all alone!
My throne is set so that Im about 90 degrees to the floor.
..............Oh , and maybe its just me , but I feel that a drummer should never sit on another's stool .
