I got a local brand and they've always lasted a long time for me. Otherwise I would choose VF.

Dude you're lucky… My local music store only Zildjan!!! And yeah they broke easily.
VicFirth !!! My friend got them from the Internet and they were awesome.
So what size sticks do you buy? How do you choose which is best for you?
As for me with my students violins I measure their arm length. Do drummers have a way of knowing? I bought some drumsticks in May I think they are 5b or something.
Let me know I am interested in finding out I have tiny hands but long didgits!

Recently I tried a pair of 7A. They're thinner than most drumsticks. I got a bunch of different ones in a set thursday. they ranged from around 3a to 5a. somewhere around those lines. for kids and students I suggest 5a.

Yeah most people use 5b, but I like 5a. 5bs are too big for my hands, but try out both sizes.

I try different sticks all the time.

I like 5A or 7A
definatly vic over zildjen....i use 5a because they are lighter and easier to play softer with, but big enough to make a giant sound also
Ill be going to the music shop sometime this week. After what you have been saying ill be getting VicFirth. And also when i was in London the bloke in the drum shop said that he would choose Vic over Zildjan
Has anyone tried the Joey Jordinson AHEAD sticks? They're awsome!!!!!!!! But not good for jazz.
GOD + Me= Awsome Drummer!
I just bought some sweet sticks yesterday there called 'Zildjian'
LARS
I played with some the other day at Guitar Center. They are super light weight, but after about 2 minutes, I started to get blisters on my hands from where the wrap stops. I tried the Tommy Lee and the Lars Ulrich signature sticks too and they all have that same problem. I love the feel but they just tear my hands up.Originally Posted by Metal forever

WHO CARES!!!! in my oponion Vic Firth are over priced, well for dumsticks. I would go with the Zildjian, just because i broke my first ever vic firths in like a week(perhaps i had the wrong wood type)and my Z's lasted for like 2 months!!!!!
the sticks looked incredibly bad, and eventually they died, but they gave an impressive lengthy run.....
but it doesnt matter, stick brands r not at all important in my oponion
I finally bourght my drumsticks today. I bourght some VicFirth hickory 7A´s
7A? lol arent those tiny?

Well i prefer smaller sticks.
im allways trying new sticks,im not really a fan of chunky sticks i just use bog standard 5A n 7A they seem to be my favs
i use mostly vic virth n cheap stagg sticks which cost me around 2 pound a pair on the net lol,i bought a pair of joey ahead sticks and i to be honest i cant say they where ever that gd! would rather buy cheap sticks
you should try the Vic Firth Steve Gadd Sigs. Theyre 5A, so still relativley small, theyre black, and look cool, and impressivly durable and light!

I'm now trying out a pair of Vic Firth 8D's
They're quite good for me, but I'd like a heavier pair, there too light for me.
By the way, Vic Firth = Perfect Pair ?
