    Default New band

Well, last saturday, I auditioned for a band. I will be the bass player. Played 5 songs with the acoustic guitar player liveat a coffee house. Tonight, we are adding a drummer and lead guitar. I have to crunch 14 songs. I will see you all later tonight or tomorrow morning! Have A GREAT and RHYTHMIC Day!

Well, had a good time last night. Learned 11 of the 14 songs. We played 2 hrs straight!!! Not used to that one. The Drummer is the guy I took 1 lesson from over the summer. He was really easy to lock in with. He played with a lot of dynamics, I think it's the correct word. He played a lot on the ride, and just made it easy to groove with. He also liked my playing. I like those nights. Of course out of the 11 I learned, I played about 8. Then there were a lot of curveballs throughout the set. Ya know, the songs either I have never heard or only heard, but never played. So, I got on-stage lessons. It intrigues me to play anything I have never even tried. I like to say "winging it". The crowd of 15+ stayed the entire evening and really commented on everyone. I myself, didn't play like the way I usually play. I am usually playing all over the place, chording, 2 hand tapping, and harmonics. I guess I should keep that with my band I have been with for 7yrs. It was a knowledgeable and "light bulb" night.

Sounds good man! Sometimes it's fun to play something you haven't before during a gig...but you were probably right to keep it simple and stay in the pocket, at least until everyone is comfortable with the new tune! What are some of the songs you guys are playing?
