    Hey guys,
I was bored today. So I made a video of me playing. It's kind of sloppy and really not that great. But could you tell me what you think.
    Thanks,
    -Fred

It's not bad dude, I like how you involved your left hand while playing, that's hard for some people. You had some good grooves in there too, keep it up.

Good job Fred! How long have you been playing? You've got some pretty good grooves there. As you said, a little rough in spots, but overall it's very impressive!

Good stuff. You really like your snare up high. Kill your camera man for covering your face with the cymbal!

No, I mean it's position is high, as in your snare stand is set up to very tall, since your throne doesn't look low.

Bummer. You missed it when Fredr was playing in front of 50,000 hot chicks with a wall of flame behind him and a dirt bike demolition derby in front. It was cool!

Why are you concerned about the dirt bikes? It's the hot chicks I'm worried about!

I feel that you missed the one a few times comeing back from fills. Other than that, it was good.

Not bad, Fred. I would suggest that you choke up a bit on your sticks so that you can gain more control of them. This will help clean up some of your fills and left hand snare drum action. When using the LH as a cross stick, try to use the butt end of the stick for a better sound...nothing wrong with playing that way at all. Looks to me like you have a lot of neat things going on for yourself...some nice tempo and stylistic changes. Now, build upon that.

Thanks!! I see what you mean, I'll try doing that from now on. I have some trouble thinking up fills. And I'll either repeat one or doing something off beat. I play much better with a band, I've never been good at solos. But thanks for the advice!

    And thanks everyone!

We all have trouble thinking up new Fills, LOL!! The trick is to listen to as many drummers and bands as you can...you always pick up on something. One thing that I do that has helped me tremendously is to practice the first 5 pages of STICK CONTROL, by George L. Stone, around the drum set. Let the sticking dictate how you play around the drums and don't be afraid of using the bass drum as a separate drum either. Amazing how fast you'll come up with some really neat fills and grooves.
