    Default Portable recorder.

    Hi.

I always recorded rehearsals etc with a Mini Disc walkman with a camcorder mic. This has now died. What's around nowadays that I can carry around, reasonably cheaply, to get an audio notebook of rehearsals, gigs etc?

    Cheers

The Tascam DR-1 is a great field recorder from what I've heard. A buddy of mine with his own studio used it during club shows and smaller venues. It picks up great mp3 quality and may be the cheapest while still the best decision.

I heard a recording made with a Zoom H2 and it sounded pretty good. With something like that, placement is key.
