    nice kit Russ!
    I hafta ask though..and no dis here..but why..oh, why..?
Evans EMAD batters on the kick drums AND a clothes dryer's worth of laundry?
At that point, I doubt the ported heads are much more than a hole to switch loads.. I know they are your drums and your sound. But those beautiful sounding drums need to breathe brutha! Just my opinion...

That is a sweet kit bro! Rock on!

I use Pinstripes for the batters on my toms and EC's as reso.

I don't know their full potential, as I suck at tuning, haha. But I like them, they're good heads. I had stock Pearl heads before (I use Pearl), and they were hideous. At least my drums have a tone now, lol.

As for the Alpha's, I have some non-Slipknot ones. They're fairly nice cymbals. I don't know how much they costed because I started drumming about 10 years after my parents bought them... haha. I imagine you could probably pick up some ordinary Alpha's for cheaper than the Slipknot ones, though.

Thanks for the info about the heads xweasel!

Regular Alphas are nice the thing is that the Slipknot ones are black and i really like black color on everything jejeje i know i'm paying looks!

I could probably get the Rude series for that amount of money....

I would recommend not getting the Slipknot Alphas. They're black-coated right? Anything black coated will sound bad, like Zildjian Pitch Black. Regular Alphas are good cymbals for the price, just get them instead.

    hmmm
The pitch black Zildjians were painted, I believe.
The JJ Alphas are anodized which is not so much a paint as an actual plating process of sorts. I could be wrong on this, but I think they are (JJ Alphas)
made in the same process as the old Paiste colorsounds which sounded great!

i use g2 over remo cs on toms and floor toms, and power center reverse over a stock head, but it used to be a mesh reso, the bass drums are emad2's that i actually cut a small portion out of to create a sort of "frontal pressure vent" for a subtle box-kick effect reminescent of a square sized kit, which i was trying to recreate the effects of. youll find i use some unique head configurations, its okay to laugh
