Good lookin' drums!
Pearl Prestige World Series WLX in Antique White
I picked up this recent purchase over a week ago
Very nice condition kit.
Spent the week tearing it down to get to know it. It scrubbed up exceptional well.
At rehearsals tonight with it.
Will see how it goes.
It looks great. The whole band have commented on its looks.
First hits .... Sounds very good. I'm very impressed and happy with the sound.

I recently acquired this Pearl Export kit. Someone gave it to our church when we opened three years ago, and I played it for about two years. Then I gave our church my Mapex Saturn kit. So I asked the pastor if I could have this Export kit, and he said yes. So I brought it home and tuned it up, etc. I took it outside to take pictures yesterday, but I was too lazy the take cymbals and stands outside. The snare is a Pearl Modern Utility 14x5 that I bought for the church. Peace and goodwill

I've had a Pearl phobia since the 70s....however, after a long search for a good inexpensive orphan bass drum, I bought an Export.
For my practice kit, I don't need top-line equipment, and it is not difficult to make a bass drum sound decent.
I like the bass drum except it is an 18 in depth.....but no big deal since it will not be used for gigs.
The better piece of equipment I just bought is a pair of GK Ultraphones....nice!

I've always been a Ludwig guy. I did have a set of Rogers that I bought used but in great shape that stayed in our rehearsal studio. I sold them but kept the Dyna-Sonic snare. I wasn't too thrilled with the Swiv-O-Matic stuff, but once I had them set up like I wanted (and changed to a Speed King) they were fine.
As for Pearl drums. I bought 2 sets at an estate sale a few months after I moved to North Carolina. My neighbors friend liked 1 of the sets and wanted to buy them. He asked me what I wanted for them, and I told him to make me an offer. He offered more than I paid for both sets which is the reason I still have the other set. Several years ago, I bought a set of Crystal Beats. They are seamless acrylic and are fairly heavy but solid.
What I hate about Pearl is the tom mounting hardware. Plain and simple: THEY SUCK. Can I be the only 1 who hates their tom mounts?????
1 thing that has always amazed me is that after putting up over 50 videos, mostly with the Ludwigs, not 1 person (all drummers) has noticed that my 1 tom mount is a Slingerland Set-O-Matic. Compared to today's hardware, it is fragile looking, yet it has been holding a 14x10 tom since 1971.

Ricky, if I had known, I would have given you the whole set of Pearls that have been stacked up since I bought the Crystal Beats.

Thank you, Rick....that is very kind of you.
I'm enjoying playing the practice kit (nothing sounds good in the room where the kit sits....all hard surfaces) with music I really like.
The headphones are outstanding and that makes all the difference.

That is why I carried 3 sets in our truck. A set for each type of surface.

The blue Export set above is back at church, but I kept the snare. The snare at church is now a Mapex Armory. Peace and goodwill.
