After a little research I found out the stock Tama heds are the equivilent to a clear Ambo or G1. Im currently running coated G1's but I might just try clears next time around.
I, no lie here, got a better sound out of those than my Coated Emperors so far.

i cant find the latest superstars anymore, they just had to go and change everything
Where are the Tama drummers? I want to upload some new pictures of mine with new equipment. I have my 12" tom set up on a snare stand to the left of my hi hats. I like having 3 toms, but I love the feel of having a 4 piece set.

Busy with snare transactions! Sold the metalworks last week, and in 20 minutes the one I was going to sell to you is going to be sold for $212.50.
I like the Artwood I got, although I've only played it once. Looking forward to putting a Genera Dry HD or something on it!
I added in my 10" tom to make a 6 piece, 3 up 1 down. Needs a G2 and G1 reso, but definitely having fun with the kit. Considering another crash when I have some cash.

I just bought a used tama brass snare and I love it, the pedals from tama are just kicking too, my mate has an old set of tama's with huge toms, I will take a pic next time Im out hs way and post it for you tama lovers.
Official cowbell hater.
In the last 20 minutes since I posted about the price, it jacked up to $330+$20 shipping! So I bought the Artwood for $175 shipped, and got back $355 before shipping. Not a bad endeavor!

Getting hooked on ebay?
You think? My wife is enjoying the extra $ coming in as well since things are tight. "So what else can you sell?" has come up a few times.

I am a proud owner of a 7-piece Birch Tama Starclassic in a deep red / marble finish. I absolutely love this thing lol. It is one with the starcast mounting system, and was bought new in Australia for about $6000 (probably $4000 US). Not the most expesive kit in the world, but add the Sabian AAX cymbals and one extremely keen drummer who lives for his music (and his wife... Im sorry babe stop hitting me!!), and you can't go wrong I reckon!
Not the most epxpensive kit? I would venture that's one of the more expensive kits that people on DC have.
Although I had thoughts of new, a full cleaning, new heads, and "new" used Artwood snare have me back in the groove with my old Crestar's. I do like my son's Superstar HyperDrive's as well, just don't play them that much

$ no issue that's what I would get. Looks awesome too.
Anyone know how to email Tama the way Les emailed Gretsch? Trying to find out if their newer BD double tom mount would work on my old Crestars. The one I have is fine, but hard to adjust. Of course mine has hex L's, not round, so not sure if that could be accomodated.

The issue with the toms is the lugs, which use the hex L, whereas the new one's are round. It's a question of whether the mount will work with the holes on the BD, or worst case the pipe will fit.
That's why I'm trying to contact Tama, to find out. No contact info on the website however.

Why not take one of the toms off your Crestar and try it on your Superstars L rods?
Anyone see how badass Stewart Copeland's signature Tama set was? *faints*
And Jesse, You are beyond lucky. I wish I could get that for my Acrolite. I would take it in a flash and buy me a Pork Pie or Pearl snare. Maybe even another Ludwig.

Believe me I didn't think I would get that! Rmandelbaum and I were PM'ing about it and I was hoping to get $200 as a similar King Beat had gone that high. Apparently the fact that it was a Mastercraft was a big deal.
Unfortunately that money is not being reinvested into drums, but rather going to help out with family finances. A house, 2 kids, 2 dogs, adds up. The metalworks I sold paid for the Artwood, so that was a wash.

i was just in the basement, and realized that i haven't posted in this thread
I have an old Rockstar kit, although now i basically only use the bass drum, and floor tom from that kit, everything else, my snares, and rack toms are Ludwig. The equipment i aquired from a school auction last year. Metal snare, marching snare, and marching toms. i am posting pictures in the "show us your drums!" thread.
Ludwig is okay not as good as Tama though.

Coming from a Tama player. I LOVE LUDWIG! Ludwig is resurging and sells one of my personal favorite kits ever made. The Legacy Classic. And in the snare drum department, does anything beat the Wood/Brass Black Beauty? Sorry, but Ludwig is where my heart is. I one day wish to have a Tama and a Ludwig (Along with about 10 other sets in my own studio) ;-)
