I don’t like the quick-lock mounts either. I know they’re supposed to move around to maximize resonance, but I prefer everything to be more stationary.

Yeah I get it, I was against them for the longest time and would not even consider them but after gigging this kit twice now I am sooo happy to have them.

I loved them from the start. TAMA just ran out of finishes I like and I found Yamaha. LOL

Which is odd because out of the major manufacturers I think Yamaha has the least amount of color options for most of their kits. The RC are great but color choices are meh, I dont think the Hybrids or Oaks have more than 4 choices.

Totally agree. They leave a lot to be desired in their finishes. Very disappointing.

Tama hardware is quite good. Peace and goodwill.

It certainly lives up to its name as being a fat sound. Reminds me of my ‘67 Ludwig kit with a warm punchy tone. Bought a new matching snare separate from the initial purchase which I found used at a big box store in town.

Hello Rich......good to hear from you.
Those Tamas are beautiful. Even though I'm a long-time Gretsch player, those Tama Starclassics have always been attractive to me.
I have lots of their hardware......great stuff.
    Hope you are doing well.

Hey Ricardo how are you? Glad to see you are still around man. Your loyalty to Gretsch is to be commended. As you may recall, I’ve had a few Gretsch kits and enjoyed them all but I must agree with you about the StarClassic line. Superb build quality and great sounding drums.

    Doing well, thanks.
I retired from the gov in August, 2019.
My wife and I have been travelling......all of Texas and New Mexico....all of New England, NY state, and Quebec...Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Minnesota, the Dakotas, Montana, Washington, BC Canada, and Alaska....this summer will be the England, Ireland, Scotland, and Paris.

My loyalty to the Gretsch shells (I think) is because, during the year that I ordered them (1977 SSB), they were without question the best I'd ever seen.
These days, Gretsch still makes a good shell, but so do a few others.

Wow! You've travelled to many different places Ricky. How cool! I retired in '23 and started to slowly plot my travel plans. Went to Virginia (Norfolk) to see my son in the Navy, he took me to DC. Been to Boulder CO and in June I'm going to visit relatives in Okinawa, Japan.

Hey man. You missed Iowa. It's a great place to catch up on nothing to do. Hope you are well. Sounds like it!!!
