I first played DWs in a Sam Ash store and was determined to own a set. I'm on my fourth DW set now and am privileged to be an endorser since 2005 or so. They treat me very well. I have a great deal with the company and if I need something, I get it quickly. They're great people and the drums are incredible. I got into arguments all the time with people on DFO who loved to trash DW for everything under the sun. They are idiots. Most of those guys were big Ludwig fans, "the lemmings," I called them.

We try not to put up with that here Bob. If people start getting too mean or throwing mud, we see them to the door. I hope you find a home here. Not as many posting as the old days but the ones that are here are like family. Cool group!

By the way, I love DW drums. I don't own any currently but don't understand why people put them down. They're great drums!

As awesome as DW’s are, Classic Maples in VMP are iconic. Pairing them with 2002’s is a perfect combination. Going back to the roots and simplifying your setup sounds like a great idea to me.

The only thing about my DW kits that i never was able to fall in love with were the round tom lugs. I just don't bond with that visual. The drums sound amazing but my first drumset was an Apollo 5 piece and i quickly upgraded to a 5 pc Ludwig Chrome kit with 2 chrome over wood concert toms. That kit sounded amazing. I like the lugs and the old school look of Ludwig.

I bet that snare is loud and focused. Nice purchase.

It can be loud when wanted, but it is also super sensitive.

I really like it in the studio and when playing it live.

I’m just the opposite. I fell in love with Camco drums when I was in my teens. I first laid my eyes on a Camco kit in a magazine and the turret lugs looked unique to me but I was too late to the party to own a set and they sold off there patents and went out of business while I was still figuring out which direction I wanted to go as far as drumming was concerned. I’m 60 now and just 4 years ago, I finally scored a deal on a used Collectors gold badge kit from 2007 as you recall. I’ve hung on to my first kit, a ‘67 Ludwig Super Classic 3pc. and sold my 2013 Gretsch USA Customs 5pc. but I must say that I understand your desire to get back to the Ludwig family. I’ll never part with the ‘67 SC. There’s just this warm tone that envelopes my ears when I play that kit. As the wood aged, that kit kept sounding better. I’ve recorded extensively with all three kits but my songwriting partner will not let me move the DW’s out of his studio. He insists that the Collectors are the most musical drums he’s ever heard so I have the kit mic’d and ready to go at any given time.
