Gretsch Drums have not sold. The DW Kit will be here Thursday April 25th. I will put the Gretsch Kit on eBay or Craigslist. I need to take better pics.

I'm going to post a photo on Thursday of just the DW drums in their boxes as a teaser photo. LOL What do you guys think about that idea?

T minus a few hours before Mothership 3 arrives. It’s wednesday night 11:35 pm and my DW KIT is within 20 miles of here.

I don’t think I will sleep much tonight. Pics as soon as the ‘precious’ shows up.

It's Wednesday, almost Thursday morning and I keep checking this thread to see if Mothership has landed. I know what you must be going through. Get some sleep and we'll "see" you tomorrow!

That picture angle is misleading. The bass drum is 22” x 18”

    Wow. Just wow.

That’s one of the better looking kits I’ve seen in a while. Love the gold hardware with that finish.

    Congrats

This evening after dinner i started setting up Mothership III. I have the bass drum, snare, and the 3 floor toms setup currently. I'd like to share a thought about this drum set. Let me know if this rings true with any of you. I am 53 years old. I have been playing drums since i was 15. I have played and owned many drumset in the past. I have played literally everything. I can tell you that the difference in how i feel sitting behind this drumset is completely different than sitting behind my Gretsch kit or any kit i've owned in the past. Its like, when i sit and play everything feels more powerful and i feel like i can play anything. I think part of that is just knowing you are playing the best drums (biased) out there. I was sitting behind my kit earlier and i was just grinning from ear to ear. Its that moment when you realize "YEAH, THIS WAS THE RIGHT PURCHASE".

Without sounding too corny its almost like you feel invincible behind a really good set of drums. Anyway...here's an "in progress" photo.

Secondly, the last DW kit i owned was about 15 years ago and the thread pitch on that kit was better than other kits but nowhere near as fine as this new kit. i was absolutely blown away at how fine the thread pitch is on all the lugs on this kit. Look at the second picture below. This kit should stay in tune amazingly well. This threat pitch is akin to a good set of Gotoh guitar tuners with a 21:1 pitch.

Holy Smoke iNDiGLo! What an amazing set up you got there. I never played or owned a DW Collectors kit before I brought mine home but it wasn't until I started recording with them that I realized "YEAH, THIS WAS THE RIGHT PURCHASE". My bandmates thought my Gretsch USA kit sounded great but when I brought the DW in, the words "more musical" were used to describe the drums from what we heard from our recordings.

Total drum porn....feel like there should be a parental advisory sticker to put on this this

I have a Saturn V drumset that I love, but I know in my heart that it's not the last set I'll own...if i can find a way to get a Tama Star/Sonor SQ2/DW Collectors/Pearl Reference Pure I'd do it in an instant. Something about those drums are just at another level compared to the rest.

Congratulations on the purchase -- beautiful drums.
I've always been a fan of wood finishes; those Gretsch drums look great to me too...............is that the Savannah Sunset ?
I'd make an offer but you have twice as many drums as I need.
    Enjoy your new kit.
