I am looking at getting a new snare drum as it is one of the only things i need to upgrade at the moment. I am looking at a Sonor Force 1007 steel snare drum for $149. Is this a good price? And is the drum good?
If you can help that will be great.
    Cheers. D95......

The price sounds ok, but I'd want to hear the drum first.

I picked up a Force 2007 shell pack (Studio sizes - 10, 12, 14, 20, 14sn, w/free 8" tom) for $500. They will be delivered tomorrow. Insanely good deal for a birch kit. Pics and review to follow.

Will it stand up to playing Indie sort of music on?

I have a CatJazz kit and have heard the jungle kit in person a couple of times. This is an interesting comparison. With the Sonors you get a lacquered finish and way sturdier hardware. My only issue is the drum sizes. The kit sounds good, but really small. The woman that I know with this kit plays in a straight-ahead jazz quartet. I can't see these sizes working for anything much larger than that. The CatJazz has an 18x14 kick (+2, diameter, -2 depth), 12x8 rack tom (same) and 14x14 floor (+2 depth) plus a 14x5 snare. I have used this kit for indoor gigs with an acoustic rock band and they work very well. The snare is okay, but the rest of the drums are great. You can get the natural or walnut and have a lacquered finish or any of the others (wrapped). The Sonors look like better drums, but too small for my tastes.

It just showed up this morning, but I only received 1 of the 2 boxes. I am missing the BD, floor tom, and 8" rack. It may be next week before everything gets here. I am really, really, pissed at Musician's Friend right now.

It's not unusual from them--one time I had two boxes arrive. I happily opened them only to find they were from two completely different kits! On the other hand, I did get my Sonor kit from them, and it was in great shape.

They were once on sale for $299! Stupid Deal of the Day. Almost jumped on it, but wasn't going to be enough of a change from my Tamas.

I'd love to hear your take on them, as Sonor's seem to go on sale for super cheap at times. Maybe because they aren't as "in" as other brands.

Here is what I have so far. Missing the BD, FT, and 8" rack. When I called MF, they couldn't even verify that the box existed, let alone when they could ship it. I don't want to get too attached in case I end up having to send the whole thing back.

Ahhh blue! Looks similar to my Yamaha's finish, but mine's not a fade. Very nice. Can you see the blue under regular lighting, or just with flash?

Unfortunately, the Force 2007 blue fade has to go back. Musician's Friend could not locate the second box, and are taking this one back. I did get a nice 12,14,16,20,14x5sn Pearl Vision instead. They dropped the price to $500 and are overnight shipping it, but still not what I originally wanted.
