Me and my mate (since we record together ) between us have an 8 piece bardi microphone set and a condensor mic.

One simple tip to all. For better production., Capturing what you do as many ways as you can to use in production will get you an excelent mix down at the end :>

currently my setup consists of 2 Nady condensor mics. Don't remember the model off the top of my head. A Shure SM48, which is a universal application condensor, and some cheap radio shack mics until i have the money to get the XLR cables and stuff i need to use the rest of my Nady mics.

I plug those into a Roland VS-1680, i have had the Roland for about 5 years.
I record all of my music into it, since i actually have 256 tracks to work with for each song. (16 tracks X 16 Virtual tracks)

I bought a 3 pack of the Nady SP-5 just to check them out. They're not as sensitive as the Shure SM58 (so they don't feedback as easy), and their overall tone is a bit brighter, but with a little EQing they really are decent mics for the price.

i totally agree, and as long as they were not very expensive, that's why i went with them. When you're on a tight budget, you have to find all the deals you can. I got a 5 pack a couple years ago from Musician's friend.

Not sure I understand your question but I will say this...

I start with a video and usually crappy audio from the camera mic. If I'm on my game my drums were mic'd and working correctly so I also captured the audio in some fashion. Hopefully an mp3 file on your computer.

So one way or another both recordings have to get to your computer.

For sake of expense, I import both into Windows Movie Maker.

Mute the video cameras audio and sync your audio track with the video and you should have a great video of your great audio track.

In theory. But in my case, once I did this, the audio did not match up with the video...still working on it.

Seems that way. Which is why all my drum videos may always have crap audio..LoL.

Drums is probably one of the most expensive instruments anyway, you're not buying picks, you're buying sticks, not replacing strings but drum heads..and the drums themselves..infinitely expensive...so much you have to buy individually where as my guitar... once I got it.. its had. No more major expense. But still, I love my drums and its totally worth the cost.

Dude - record the video to a memory card or hard drive. When you record to tape, the variances in tape tension and speed will make it virtually impossible to sync.

Absolutley...it's a hard drive video cam. I just plug it into the computer via USB and transfer the video file over.

So, when you import both into Windows Movie Maker you should have both tracks available at the bottom of the editor. From there you just move the audio track forward or backwards depending on how out of sync it is and once it lines up you should be able to save the project and a new file and make it available for internet use.

Right, that's how it should work. But as the video goes on, it's seems like either audio or the video is just slightly faster or slower. So, at first, it's fine, but slowly gets off track later in the tune. I am trying a different approach now though. The audio tracks will match perfectly, so if the video is a little off you shouldn't notice.

    More to come...

Nope. I just bought a new laptop for my trip in the fall...and I might as well use it to record until then!

So, I will run through a mixer straight into the laptop and use the recording program to record both the audio track I am playing along to with what I am actually playing at the same time.

That should do the trick. But I need an interface first.

Cool Thread. Here is my setup

Audix F10 series mics for toms 1 through 4. The bass mic F14 that comes with the fusion I am using for my floor tom. Overhead condensers F15 series.

Audix D6 about two inches from the beater.
Home made Subkick mic using a 8" sub for the concussive force you get in the chest.
Audix i5 for top head of snare and f10 series snare mic for botom head.

Digi 002 rack modded by Black Lion with pro tools 8.
ADA800 ADAT modded by Black lion

I have a Roland TD6 E kit fused with my aoustic kit for midi triggering.
