Default Your Opinion on a Maple Set

Friends at Drum Chat, I'm looking into purchasing a new maple drum set; I own a lower end Gretsch set and I'm feeling like an upgrade. For now I would appreciate some hints on the subject. Brand is no matter, and I will consider all the Reply's. I would like to stay under $1,400.

    Thanks for the help, Billy.

    Hey Billy,

Sounds like you have a nice realistic budget. Would that be for the entire kit, drums, hardware, and cymbals, or do you have hardware and cymbals that you would keep?

    New or used?

I ask because you can get just about anything used in that budget. Check out eBay.

New? Well, they're all good, but I suggest you look at Tama.

If you can live without the ego pop of buying a new set...... figure out what you want in a color and size combination thats just out of your price range and shop used. It will be will within your budget.

SONOR 3007's will get you a lot of kit for less than $1400.

If you go look at the SONOR thread in the top section of the forum, there are a few current kits posted there in different finishes. I picked up a 6 pc maple shell pack in a nice lacquer fade finish for $999.

Ditto on what he said. Lot of bang for the buck with the 3007's. PM me for a link to some good people to do business with regardless of what brand you opt for.
