Default Tama Iron Cobra Vs Pearl Eliminator

I've been tossing up this decision for a while now. I'm going to get a new double kick pedal in the near future and I can't decide whether I should get the Iron Cobra or the Eliminator.

They both cost around the same, around $800 AUD.

They're both fairly solid and well-recognised pedals.

I like the interchangable cams on the Pearl, but I'm not sure whether that will make it a better pedal.

I've heard that the Tama is one of the most reliable pedals, and I like that it has the most adjustability.

    Can anyone help?

Hey HB58, I own the Pearl Eliminator Powershifter double pedals and they are rock solid! As far as adjustability, The Pearl's can be set up more ways than the Iron Cobras. I prefer to play barefoot so I can feel the pedal response better, and I liked the way the Pearl's felt compared to the Tama's. I tried them both out quite a few times before I bought them and I feel that I made the right choice! Hope that helps!

Thanks for the feedback DrumBum. It will probably be a little while before I make my decision, I need to save up for the pedals first.

How much did your Eliminators set you back?

I played the Pearl Eliminator single pedal and it's really great.
It's very very nice you can change the cams.

It is a nice quick adjustment to change cams. Usually takes about 30 seconds per peddle. Once you get it set the way you like it, you just chuck the other cams in the back of the closet!

I was able to pick them up on sale at Guitar Center for $260. Keep an eye on E-bay though. I've seen used sets go on there for around $150.

Yeah, me too. That's why the decision is difficult.

Unfortunately some new pedals have also caught my attention, namely the Sonor Giant Step Twin Effect. Thoughts?

What currency is that in? I'm from Australia, so I'd have to make the necessary adjustments.

Aha! Sounds like you got a bargain then. The Tama Iron Cobra is ~$800 AUD and the Pearl is roughly the same here. Could just be that I live in a town with only one music store though :S

The Pearl one is a piece of work, I played with the Double Kick Briefly.. I cannot comment on the Tama one but the thing is that they are desgined off the same molding and pretty much are almost the same but from what a couple people around here told me they prefer Pearl over the Tama.

Hi(I'm new), I just wanted to say that i tried both but i liked the pearl P2002C better.(that's why i got it)The main reason why i like it is because of the interchangeable cams. Just hoped this might help.

Thanks for all your feedback guys.

I'll keep it in mind when I go to buy the pedal.

i own an iron cobra and i have played the pearl double pedal as well. personally i like the tama pedal better but they are both excellent so you can't really go wrong with whichever one you choose.

Screw the double pedals and buy an extra bass drum

...oh, I guess you'd still have to get another pedal. lolz...

But yeah, Pearl all the way.
