Just been looking at the Post your Kit thread, lots of mentions about wraps, can you get wraps to put over your drum to change the look?
Hi
Is there anything wrong with adding a couple of toms from another kit? i have a Mapex m-birch which is the kit i always use (fusion) and a Premier apx 1980's (rock)kit which is at my dad's gathering dust, can i add the floor tom and 1 of the toms to my mapex kit? just to add a bit more to my kit. i'd clean it up and re-spray so it'd look as close as a match as possible.
Cheers Mark

There is no reason you cant.
Ayotte Custom Drums.
Mapex M 14x14.
I say add the other peices! The different sounds can your drumming more musical. Wraps are cool too and they aren't super hard to do.
If already own the drums why not add them in, you can always take them back out if you don't like it. I was watching a band on PBS the other night (an Avant Garde Jazz group) called "The Bad Plus" the drummer was really impressive, and he had a red bass drum with blue toms. I say try it you might like it.
Gretsch Catalina Birch 6 piece fusion set (10,12,14,16in. Toms, 22 Bass). Sabian 20" HH Classic Ride, 16" Istanbul Agop Dark Crash, & Zildian K 13" Hi-hats.
go for it mate though if you are going to recover them, only do the Premier pieces you want to add. No point in doing the whole kit IMO

I say add way! I saved my beginner kit (ddrum D2) for my son, and one day when I was in my local music store the owner offered to give me a free 13" Pearl tom. I took it, and figured that I could rewrap it to match the red wrap on the ddrum kit. That way I'll be giving my son a 6 piece kit, instead of a 5.

i definitely agree with everyone else. I have a 5 pc Tama kit, and aquired some marching toms, i added 2 into my kit. I haven't rewrapped, or repainted them though, since i only play drums for me.
You can get wraps that don't adhere to the shells from RockenWraps, that way you can separate the two sets again without damage if you need/want to.

I say it is your kit.....your music....your way.....do wat you want to do...if it works for you....and it sounds good.....what else matters? Go for it man....best of luck.

I've heard that drums of different brands will fight at night when the lights are out and have been known to wreak all sort of havoc including setting house fires!!!
I'm sorry....It's just such a funny question!
all the best...
Well, you've got that right Rat. The truth is that I've spent enough in his music store (and he's given me great deals) that we have become friends. The drum was something that he took in trade, and as a single 13" tom probably had very little retail value. On the other hand, he made me very happy and cemented our relationship. When I need something, I always check his store first.

I have the same thing going on. I have an old kit that Im gonna refinish and add it to the kit Im playing. just tune up or down any toms you have that might be close to the same size. good luck
QS, thanks for the Rockenwraps info.
Not really looking to do anything right now, but very cool solution in that it's temporary and easy to undo!
Would be cool to have to spice the kit up for a special show, etc..

The badge and the grommets for any vent holes are the big issue. You need to find a way to get the badge off without destroying the badge itself. The are videos online (I forget where) that give you suggestions on how to do it.
You can also PM Rob on Drums, since he just wrapped his drums a little while back.
The regular hardware, lugs, hoops, mounts, etc.. are all just screwed on so that stuff is really easy to take off.
