    What do you guys do to get down the noise of loud acoustic drums, I am worried I am going to get complaints soon. thanks.

    Besides muting pads, hot rod sticks or brushes will get the sound levels down.

    I don't muffle. If I did, I'd use blankets, as it's cheaper than mutes.

    theres a number of ways, you can muffle toms with moongels, studio rings, putting something inside the drums like towels, blankets, etc. you can use muters, but that will completely delete the sounds and might take part of the fun away. certain hoops are louder than others, and certain wood also has naturally high volumes(ash, oak, etc) you can also try soundproofing your room by laying mattresses against your walls, buying and installing a soundshield around your drums, also where they are in the room can make a difference in where the sound will be projected. or you can trigger by getting mesh drumheads, rubber cymbals, triggers, a sound module, and whichever type of cables that will accept the triggers for the module.
