Pearl makes a practice set that is all pads and no electronics with it. I think that would be a lot less money if you are just looking for a quiet practice set.Originally Posted by jarhead

I just sold my Roland TD-8 kit. It had great sound and almost unlimited flexability. Great for practicing at home when you need to be quiet. I used a PM-1 moniter system and also went directly in to the PA system during larger gigs. The tom/snare/bass sounds are great. You can emulate any type, size, or style of drum very accuratly. I did find the cymbals to be lacking the ambience or shimmer that you get from real cymbals though. I sold my kit for $1000 for a quick sale so I could have enough to buy my new acoustic kit, but I usually see them sell for around $1400 without a moniter. They are worth the money, but I did'nt need 3 kits taking up space in my house.
